Production Designer Profile - Beth Mickle

Beth Mickle is the production designer who worked on the films Drive and Only God Forgives among many others. I like her design aesthetics and attitude towards rich visual style and working to a low budget using unconventional items and props giving a set a more realistic feel. Mickle uses a lot of patterns in her work, looking at the most extreme elements of what she is trying to portray. Working closely with the lighting departments to tone down or ramp up the style of each scene, she is able to push her visual designs. Mickle likes to work on films with sparse dialogue as she says "It really gives you the confidence to make bold choices and go farther than you have before".
