First Render

I still have a lot to do in terms of lighting and sorting out grainy shadows but I thought I'd share one of my first renders!

Oven Texturning

I documented the process I went through to texture the oven:

I tried hand drawing the textures but I could tell even with bump maps this would not achieve the realism I wanted

I used photos I'd taken and created the textures and bump maps

Finished oven, looks way better now!

A Few Finsished Kitchen Bits!

I've been plodding along with all the modeling and texturing and thought I'd share a few finished models.

Specific Kitchen Items

Next step is to create the specific and larger pieces of kitchen furniture, These are what I have so far and the images they are based on. They are all based on actual products because, as it's a mock-documentary, It needs to be as close to reality as possible.

Kitchen Modeling

I have modeled the high-definition version of the basic parts of the kitchen, researching specifically conventions of 80s and 90s American kitchens.

Inside of my model, and the photos the countertops and tiles are based upon

Specific details like American plugs and skirting boards typical of the time.

Lighting setups (Oven extractor and spotlights), the resulting effect and a birds eye view.

Pre-Viz

I've finally completed my Pre-Viz, yippee! I'm still figuring out an appropriate way to begin the animation but I will experiment with that another time.

Texturing Pipeline

To show the level of detail I aim to upkeep throughout my animation, I've modeled and textured this pan. It still needs a little work and a specular map but it doesn't look too shabby so far!

Room Building

After figuring out what each location needs, I spent today creating designs for the three rooms and starting to fill them with basic versions of furniture and props for the pre-viz

Prop Building

I've began building a few props as examples for the pitch of the level of detail and style I want. These are the first few items.

90s PC with stickers. I've begun to age and dirty the model but it needs to be pushed further

Frying pan. I will soon experiment with ways of dirtying it

Concept Pieces

I created a couple of concept pieces to show the atmosphere of some of the areas in the house

This shows his desk, where he spends a lot of time alone moderating his website. In his warped head this means he has a lot of control. In the background there are several made up post up notes of none-existent tasks such as 'Kate- can you pick up some milk?'

This is a bland domestic scene of his unclean kitchen, with a sign he's specifically made for himself so Meredith can 'keep him organised'

Stalker House Planning

I sat down and wrote a list of all the items so far that my script calls for, and figured out which rooms I would need to build. I organised my thoughts into this diagram.

Panic Attack Research

I researched into different ways in which directors express panic attacks and panic attacks are portrayed on and in films. There has recently been a massive boost in people's realisation that anxiety and other mental illnesses are not often fully explored on film. Through my research I was aiming to decide wether or not the panic scene in my film would use different methods to discuss what was going on in his mind, or to be as real as possible.

This student short film expresses how one girl sees her panic attacks. Both colour
and the metaphor of a person is used.

This video uses real life reference alongside comments from the users of the website buzzfeed.

This video received a lot of media attention earlier on in the year. This man filmed himself
having a panic attack to raise awareness of what it's like to study from social anxiety.
There is many videos similar online which are pretty harrowing but have a powerful impact.

Script

I've written my script and alongside it have written the shots I have ideas for so far. Each chunk poses as edited clips from a long interview. When recorded it will be purposefully conversational and awkward. Stuttering and tripping over words.

Documentary and Real Life Fan research

I've watched and researched multiple types of documentaries to look deeper into not only different ways of shooting and making documentaries but also to look deeper into hoarder/ fan/ stalker mindset and how they like to portray themselves. Synopsis's and what i've learnt below.
